Trump, Carrier, Analytics, Government and You

Nelson Schwartz of the New York Times in his article about President Elect Trump’s personal injection into the Carrier’s move to Mexico wrote:

“On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indiana’s governor and the vice president-elect, plan to appear at Carrier’s Indianapolis factory to announce a deal with the company to keep roughly 1,000 jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.”

And in a Trump related article from the Wall Street Journal, writer Bradley Hope mentioned that:

” The election upset is seen as a coup for Cambridge Analytica, the U.S. arm of a British behavioral research and strategic communications company called SCL Group Ltd.”

Although the outcome of the Carrier announcement is yet to be determined, the fact is that in both stories mentioned above, manufacturing jobs being saved and the recognition of the value of in analyzing data are both being brought to light in these articles by one single influence; and that influence is created by spending time and money by big government and organizations serving big government initiatives.

As President of a company that sells and supports advanced manufacturing factory floor execution systems, it is important to note that even without big or even little government involvement, saving jobs and using technology to improve manufacturing effectiveness is real. The technology to optimize production jobs, improve factory floor visibility, error proof material management and promote the use of analytics to better error proofing the activities on the factory floor are available today. These manufacturing execution systems and production tracking software tools are available today to help save jobs, grow business and… to use a now well know phrase…make American (manufacturing) great again.

Why have big government be the entities that save jobs and use software systems effectively? Why not take on the responsibility yourself to be successful? Why not take a look at what you can do within your own production facility to take control, implement new technology on the factory floor, control your own destiny and make your factory great?
